So I’m planning on beginning a 1-year Bible reading plan. Let’s start with a short devotional.
John 11:35: “Jesus Wept”
I know what you’re thinking. You’re probably saying “why’d you pick literally the shortest verse of the Bible?” Well, I have an excellent reason. This verse shows the reader that Jesus experienced emotions like the rest of us. This is huge for us all because we can use this verse to show nonbelievers that Jesus was just like the rest of us, and that He felt the same way we do sometimes. This passage gives me comfort when I feel that I can’t be anything like Jesus, because it reminds me that He became fully human, while retaining his God nature.
PRAYER: God, you are good. I thank you for allowing me to live with your Holy Spirit’s guidance every day. Help me to be more like you. Help me to also remember that your Son became like us, even going so far as to allow Himself to get emotional.
